Photo Essay

During my internship immersion I had worked for a someone who was not only my neighbor but the producer of a radio and tv show, called the Big Biz Show. At first when I heard of the name of the show I didn’t know of it at all I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. But as my time at internship went on I realized that this was the kind of business that I wanted to pursue. Because not only was it exciting, fun, and wild it was also a great learning experience. It taught me about how life would be like after I graduated and if i went into this kind of industry. It also made me realize how hard life is as an adult and that you can’t always get what you want when you want it, and that you will and might have to answer to someone. Although you aren’t in an office or a cubicle from 9-5, you are still working all day every day whether it be on the road calling people, in the studio doing the show, or at home working on the schedule for the next day you are hardly ever free. Even though this may sound like a bad thing looking at the way my neighbor handles it I see that it is also a good thing at the same time, because even though you are working at home you can still find time to rest and do other things like help your kids with their work. The other thing thats is great about the hours at my internship is that they are very flexible with your personal schedule. But by far, the greatest thing that I took out of my experience at my internship would be all the people i met whether they be a CEO of a major or small company or even a movie critic they all taught me about the importance of something that I could use towards my career in the real world.

This is Russ and Sully, they are the two co-host of the Big Biz Show. Working with these guys was the most informational yet funny experience ever. As their nicknames state, they are exactly that. Sully being the “Money Guy” talked about different stocks and which ones were the good ones to invest in and which ones weren’t so good. Russ being the “Funny Guy’’ made everything, ranging from what President Obama says to things his kids do, hilarious. It is no wonder he is a stand up comedian. But when they’re together its like a load of fireworks the way they work and connect with each other. Unlike some co-hosts the chemistry between Russ and Sully is unbelievable it’s like they were brothers and grew up together. I guess that’s what happens when you work with someone for a long time and you build relationships and great chemistry with each other.

This picture is of the production room where the director does his magic. In here is where the director controls the robotic cameras and changes the angels of the cameras. It is also where I work during the live broadcast and what I do in here is set up the graphics for the guests and the hosts or the lower-thirds. Now pulling up the lower-thirds, stocks, and websites for the live broadcast might sound easy, but it is the complete opposite. It takes really good reflexes, being able to listen carefully, quick hands and calmness to be able to run them. Since it is LIVE you have to listen for when the director tells you to change the different lower-thirds or to put the different websites for the guests. But he is not the only one that you have to listen for you also have to listen for when Sully calls out stock symbols so you can pull it up and the director can take it to air. You have to be quick so everything can be on que. Now it might sound like a lot but trust me once you get the hang of it, it will become much easier for you to move faster.

This picture of the Skullcandy Co. is one of the good things that came out of my internship experience. The reason being because I made good friends with some of the workers from this company. Not only did I get friends from a big company I also got free stuff as well and free stuff is always great. This is just one example of many about how having connections and knowing people from big industries or companies is a good thing, because again you can use that and maybe get a career working with them.

Doing behind the scenes picture taking for an interview is fun, because you never know who the person being interviewed is. You never know maybe one time the person you are interviewing could be the CEO of a big company or it might be your favorite actor, singer, or athlete. But whoever it is, it’s always a fun experience not only to take pictures that last forever but you might meet someone that could help your career. Meeting famous people is the best experience that might come from this internship experience because sometimes you get to talk to them and know more about them even when the camera is off. You never know you might actually become close friends with the person you are interviewing.
